This is an authentic bengali old dish from west bengal. Bottle gourd cooked with yellow lentils and lentil dumplings makes a perfect deliciously combination and some fried shrimps bring out an extraordinary taste.

This is an authentic bengali old dish from west bengal. Bottle gourd cooked with yellow lentils and lentil dumplings makes a perfect deliciously combination and some fried shrimps bring out an extraordinary taste.
Steps

Dry roast moong daal in a tawa, wash and keep aside
- 2
Take 2 tbsp mustard oil and fry the bori,take out and keep aside.

In the same oil fry shrimps marinated with salt and turmeric powder and keep aside
- 4
Add 1 tbsp mustard oil,once warm add cumin seeds,bay leaf and green chilli
- 5
Add ginger paste, 1 tsp water and cook the spices well
- 6
Add the chopped lau or bottle gourd,add salt,turmeric powder and stir well. Add the roasted moong daal and mix.

Cover with a lid till water releases and allow the lau to get cooked with the spices well

Add the fried shrimps and mix well

Once the mixture becomes mushy, add sugar to tase

Now when the ghonto is almost ready,add a dollop of ghee and crush the fried boris and sprinkle.

Give another hearty stir for 2 minutes and serve with hot rice.
