Jasmine Rice is a long grain variety or fragrant Rice. It's fragrance is reminiscent of Pandan and Popcorn that results from the Rice plant's natural production of aroma compounds.
Jasmine Rice hails from Thailand while Basmati comes from India and Pakistan. These both varieties of Rice have long grains which when cooked are fluffy and not very sticky. Though Jasmine Rice is more moist, a bit sticky, soft and plump. Whereas Basmati is more firm and dry. The grains are also long but little shorter than the Basmati.
Jasmine Rice is packed with phytonytrients that help protect body's cells improving body's immune system and overall health. It is packed with Folic acid.

Usually Jasmine Rice is commonly used in Southeast Asian cooking. Jasmine Rice also known as fragrant Rice was developed in Thailand in the 1950's where it is the staple food and also is the Country's largest exports. The name is usually due to the aroma and also because of the milky white colour much similar to that of the Jasmine flower.

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
