Ingredients

  • 1/2 cuptapioca pearls
  • 8-10almonds
  • 8-10cashews
  • 1/4 cuppeanuts
  • 1finely chopped potato
  • 1tomato
  • 2 tablespoonghee
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspooncumin
  • 2 tablespoonlemon juice
  • 1 teaspoonjaggery powder
  • 1/2 teaspoonroasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspooncoarsely ground black pepper

Steps

    In a bowl add tapioca and wash it thoroughly. Drain water and let it rest for 30 minutes.
    In a pan add 2 tablespoons of ghee and roast peanuts. Once you start hearing the popping of peanuts add cashews and almonds. Once the cashews are lightly golden remove nuts from ghee in a bowl.

    In the same pan add cumin, 3 cloves and curry leaves. Once it starts fluttering add potatoes and stir fry until it’s lightly golden. Add tomatoes, tapioca, salt, coriander, ginger and green chillies. Mix well. let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes and add 3 cups of water. Mix and cover and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked.

    Stir occasionally while it’s cooked. Add 1 teaspoon jaggery powder and 2 tablespoon lemon juice. Add in roasted cumin and black pepper. Mix well. Add the nuts and serve immediately. Sprinkle farali chevro on top and enjoy.

Hi all, my name is Rekha. I am Indian by birth, born in Uganda, East Africa, I now live in Wilby, Northamptonshire/England.I retired at the age of 60 due to severe arthritis. I am married, a mother and grandmother.I learnt to cook from my parents at a very young age of seven. I started to cook simple dishes for the family and gradually learnt how to cook. My mum use to cook at our shop where we sold Indian sweets and savouries. I have learnt a lot from my mum. I started cooking fusion dishes and learning from others. My strong point is making sweet dishes and innovating new dishes. I can improvise and be creative in leftover dishes.I love being on Cookpad because I can share and learn new recipes. I have also made a lot of friends.
