Shiso & Chicken Thigh Sweet and Sour Saute

Shiso is in season during the summer. I grow my own shiso. I wanted to make something that would contain a lot of vitamins and used shiso, which has lots of iron.

Please make the sweet and sour sauce beforehand. If you have the ingredients chopped and ready and the sauce ready, this can be made very quickly. For 4-5 servings. Recipe by Mrs. ma-sa

Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 500 gramsChicken thighs
  2. 1Onion
  3. 1Katakuriko
  4. 2 cloveGarlic (minced)
  5. Sweet & Sour Sauce:
  6. 3 tbspSoy sauce
  7. 1 1/2 tbspSugar (cane sugar)
  8. 1 tbspSesame oil
  9. 1 tbspVinegar

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash the shiso and cut into thin strips.

  2. 2

    Chop the chicken thigh into bite-sized pieces.

  3. 3

    Mince the garlic.

  4. 4

    Mince the onion.

  5. 5

    Heat olive oil (not listed) in a frying pan and cook the garlic. Coat the chicken in katakuriko and place into the pan without overlapping. Turn the heat to medium.

  6. 6

    After 3-4 minutes, turn the chicken over and place the onion on top.

  7. 7

    Cover with a lid and turn the heat to medium-low. Let it simmer and steam until completely cooked through.

  8. 8

    After 4-5 minutes, top with the shiso and pour in the sweet and sour sauce.

  9. 9

    Use a wooden spoon to roughly mix it all together and then it's done.
