Ingredients

25 minutes
2 serves
  • 1 pcsaragavo (drumstick), washed & cut into 1" pieces
  • 1 cupsour curds
  • 1 tbspbesan
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  • 1 tbspcoriander - cumin seeds powder
  • 1-11/2 tbspjaggery
  • 1 pinchsugar
  • 1 tbspoil
  • 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  • 1/2 tspsesame seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped Coriander to garnish

Steps

  1. 1

    Cut drumstick into 1 " pieces. 1 drumstick will give you 6-7 pieces. Boil them in very little water in the pressure cooker up to 2 whistles.

    Remove the boiled Drumsticks from the pressure cooker,once the pressure is released. Keep aside.

    Now make curd - besan mixture by taking sour curds in a bowl. Add besan & all the dry spices.Whisk well. Add jaggery & salt. Mix well. Keep aside.

    Take oil in a pan, add cumin seeds & when they splutter,add in the curd - besan mixture. Give it a stir.

    Add in the boiled Drumsticks with water. Mix gently or drumsticks might break. Lastly add garam masala powder.

    Boil for 5 minutes on a slow flame. Serve hot with rotis or steamed rice.

    Note : As we like this Saragava ni Shing nu shaak with a little more gravy, I have added the boiled water in which Shing has been boiled. You can omit the boiled water if you prefer with less gravy.
