Ingredients

Serves 2 to 3 servings
  1. 4 packsfrozen udon noodles
  2. 7 ozground pork (about 200 grams)
  3. 1/2 stalkgreen onion
  4. 1 clovegarlic
  5. 1 pieceginger (about 1 inch)
  6. 1 tablespoonsweet bean paste (Tianmianjiang or miso)
  7. 1 tablespoonsugar
  8. 1 tablespoonsoy sauce
  9. 1/2 tablespoonoyster sauce
  10. 1cucumber (julienned)
  11. 1 teaspooncornstarch (mixed with 1 teaspoon water)

Steps

  1. 1

    Finely chop the green onion, garlic, and ginger.

  2. 2

    Heat sesame oil in a pot. Sauté the green onion, garlic, and ginger until fragrant, then add the ground pork and cook thoroughly. Add just enough water to barely cover the ingredients.

  3. 3

    Simmer for a bit, then add the sweet bean paste, sugar, soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Continue to simmer, then add the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce.

  4. 4

    Cook the udon noodles according to the package instructions. Drain well and place on plates. Top with the meat miso sauce, julienned cucumber, and any other vegetables you like.

  5. 5

    You can also serve this sauce over Chinese noodles to make Zha Jiang Mian!
