Ingredients

Serves 10 servings
  1. 2.2 lbs (1 kg)shredded kataifi dough
  2. 1.1 lbs (500 grams)ashta (clotted cream or thick pastry cream)
  3. 1 1/2 cups(about 340 grams) ghee or clarified butter
  4. For the syrup:
  5. 1 1/2 cups (300 grams)sugar
  6. 1 1/2 cups (355 ml)water
  7. 1cinnamon stick
  8. 2cardamom pods

Steps

  1. 1

    First, coat the shredded dough with 1 cup of ghee.

  2. 2

    Then, grease a baking pan with ghee.

  3. 3

    Spread half of the dough evenly in the bottom of the pan.

  4. 4

    Spread the ashta (cream) over the dough, then cover with the remaining dough.

  5. 5

    Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.

  6. 6

    Pour the prepared syrup over the hot knafeh.

  7. 7
