Homemade Taco Seasoning - Big Batch For Storing

In the past year, I've had to make some big changes to how I eat, due to health reasons. Cutting out a lot of processed foods and reducing sodium intake has really helped, but I've also had to find new ways to make meals we enjoy often...like tacos. Ultimately, I like doing this more than buying the seasoning packets, because it's healthier for everyone, tastier because we can customize it and ultimately it's cheaper, since these are all spices I already keep around. This mixture is also great to have on hand rather than mixing up a seasoning for every taco meal. I store mine in a pint sized mason jar. Feel free to cut this recipe in half if you don't use taco seasoning all that often. It can be stored for up to 1 year.

Steps
- 1
Combine all the ingredients (except for the cornstarch) into a mason jar (or different container with an airtight lid). Give the jar a shake to combine everything. Label the outside of the jar with the name of the seasoning and the date you made it.
- 2
That's it! Keep it stored with your other spices and enjoy in your taco recipes.
- 3
Use 2 tbsp. per pound of ground meat (this is equivalent to a 1 oz. packet of store bought seasoning) and 1/4 - 1/2 cup water. Stir in 1 tbsp. of cornstarch into the water before adding it. Mix it into the meat and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes. You can also use this seasoning for other taco related recipes or whatever else you typically use the seasoning packets for.
