The story of this recipe
My college-aged daughter gifted this to me. It was so cute♪ I tried making it myself using my favorite Dove milk chocolate^^ The result was a smooth-melting truffle♪
Steps
- 1
Break the pretzels to make reindeer antlers. This might be the hardest step... Since they break easily, prepare extra pretzels.
- 2
Use m&m chocolates for the nose. Mini chocolate chips will be the eyes.
- 3
Make the buttercream frosting, which acts as glue for attaching the nose and eyes. Bring the butter to room temperature, add powdered sugar, and knead until soft.
- 4
Adjust the consistency by adding milk until it can be piped. Put it in a small ziplock bag, cut one corner, and make a small hole about 1mm wide.
- 5
Chop the chocolate finely and microwave for 30 seconds, stir, and heat again for 30 seconds. Repeat until the chocolate melts.
- 6
Once the chocolate is melted (it took 1 minute in a 1000-watt microwave), add butter and mix until melted.
- 7
Gradually add heavy cream and mix, then add rum and mix.
- 8
Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes. Be careful not to over-chill, or it will harden too much.
- 9
When it reaches a consistency that can be rolled by hand, divide into 9 portions. (There are 9 reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh)
- 10
Wrap each portion in plastic wrap and roll into a ball. Chill in the refrigerator again for about 10 minutes.
- 11
If the chocolate is too hard after taking it out of the fridge, knead it slightly by hand to make it easier to insert the pretzels.
- 12
If your hands are too warm and the chocolate melts, try cooling your hands with ice in a ziplock bag.
- 13
Gently insert the pretzels without breaking them. The antlers are done.
- 14
Pipe two dots of frosting at the eye positions.
- 15
Place mini chocolate chips on top of the frosting to make the eyes. Then pipe frosting at the nose position.
- 16
Attach a red chocolate to make Rudolph♪
The expression changes depending on the position of the eyes and nose, so experiment! - 17
For the other reindeer, attach brown chocolates (for the nose) to finish♪
- 18
Also great as Christmas cake decorations♪
