Firstly, assemble all the required ingredients.

Wash, peel and thinly slice the raw papaya. Set is aside.

Heat oil in a kadai. Add the mustard seeds and allow it to crackle. Add the cumin seeds, urad dal, broken dried red chilli and curry leaves and saute until the urad dal turns light golden in color.

Add the thinly sliced raw papaya and saute it for few seconds. Add the slited green chillies, salt and water and mix it well.

Cover and cook on medium heat for 5 minutes.

Add turmeric powder and cover and cook for more 5 minutes or until cooked. Switch off the flame. Let this cooked mixture cool down to room temperature.

Add fresh yogurt in a bowl and whisk until smooth.

Now add the yogurt to the papaya mixture and mix everything together. Adjust seasoning and serve at room temperature or chill it before serving. It keeps well in the fridge for a couple of days and even on room temperature for a couple of hours during hot climate and for a day in cold climate.
