Peel and remove the cores from the apples leaving them whole

Place the apples in a baking dish a fill the hollows with the chopped almonds if using

Add a tsp of brown sugar to each apple and lightly sprinkle with the cinnamon powder topping with a tsp of butter

Pour the wine over the apples and place in a preheated oven (200 degrees) until the apples are cooked (length of time depends on size of apples) usually about 25 mins

Can be served hot or cold
