Toast the almonds in a skillet for 5 minutes, then pulse them briefly in a blender. Set aside.

Beat the butter with the powdered sugar until light and fluffy, then add the brandy and baking soda.

Add half of the flour, the baking powder, and the vanilla. Mix well.

Add the remaining flour and the almonds, then knead by hand until a dough forms.

Shape the dough into round cookies and bake at 350°F (180°C) for 30 minutes. Roll the cookies in powdered sugar, then sift more powdered sugar over the top.
