Chocolate Bento Cake

Sometimes, the best things come in small packages, just like this adorable bento chocolate cake. There are days when I get random cake cravings but cannot justify buying a full-sized cake, both for the size and the expense. And I know I am definately not alone; some of my customers feel the same way! That’s why this mini cake is perfect for a personal treat or a thoughtful gift. Inspired by my go-to chocolate cake recipe, I scaled it down to fit two 5-inch pans, creating the perfect two-layer sweet something. This bento cake is my current best-seller, and I love making each one into a cute little creation!

  3. 3

Into the dry mixture, mix in the oil, egg, vanilla, and buttermilk until just combined

  4. 4

Slowly pour in the hot water or hot coffee, whisking continuously until the batter is smooth and runny

  5. 5

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely
