Mango Shrikhand

Shrikhand is a popular delicious dessert of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Made with a thick yogurt flavoured with cardamoms, can be prepared either with a homemade curd or with a Greek Yogurt.
I tried to prepare it with a store bought yogurt which turned out very well. So, do try!

Mango Shrikhand

Take all ingredients together.

To begin with, prepare hung curd by tieing it in a muslin cloth and hang it for 3 to 4 hours.

Or you may keep heavy weight over to let all moisture or water contents drained off. Now, take out this hung curd in a mixing bowl.

Add powdered sugar, cardamom and Nutmeg. Whisk it well and keep aside.

Now, wash the mangoes throughly with water. Peel, cut and blend to make a pulp. Also, soak saffron strands in 2-3 teaspoons of milk.

Now add this soaked saffron and mango pulp in the prepared hung curd. Again whisk it well to have smooth texture and it is ready. Refrigrate for 5-6 hours. Put it in serving bowls. Garnish with nuts and enjoy.
