Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Soak the almonds in water so they don't dry out while baking.

Peel the apples, cut them into cubes, and place them in a large bowl with the lemon juice. Add the sweetener.

Heat a skillet and melt the margarine.

Add the apples and whiskey, and cook over high heat until the liquid reduces and the apples are soft but not falling apart.

Add the cinnamon, stir, and remove the skillet from the heat to let it cool slightly.

Unroll one sheet of pie crust and roll it out a little with a rolling pin. Place it in a shallow springform pan and prick the bottom with a fork.

Add the filling, unroll the second sheet of pie crust, and place it on top. Run the rolling pin over the edges to trim off the excess dough. Brush the top of the pie with the beaten egg.

Drain the almonds and spread them evenly over the top. Bake for 45 minutes at 350°F (180°C).
