Ven Pongal - a popular Indian breakfast

#CA2025
Ven Pongal is quite a popular Indian breakfast and has originated from Southern Part of India. Every state in South India has its own style to cook and one has a savoury version and a sweet version too. It can be paired with Sambhar, Medu Vada & Sambhar & Chutney or can be enjoyed on its own. It’s a healthy dish as its main ingredient is rice and Moong Dal and a tempering of cashew nuts, whole red chilli, curry leaves, mustard seed, cumin seed, ginger and green chiliies. Of course every home in South India has its own recipe and that’s the best part. One cooks as per its own liking. The basic part is rice and Moong Dal and a tempering. It’s filling and nutritious. It has carb and starch but protein and nutrition too.
