Ingredients

6–8 pieces
  • 1/4 cup(about 6–7 medium dates) Soft dates (seedless)
  • 1/4 cup(about 4–5 pieces) Dried figs (anjeer)
  • 2tbsp, roughly chopped Mixed nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)
  • 1/2 tspGhee (clarified butter)
  • 1 pinchCardamom powder
  • 1 tspPoppy seeds or sesame seeds

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak figs in hot water for 10 min if hard. Deseed dates if needed.

  2. 2

    Blend figs and dates into a coarse paste.

  3. 3

    Heat ghee in a pan, roast nuts for 1–2 min, set aside.

  4. 4

    In the same pan, cook fig–date paste on low for 3–4 min, stirring.

  5. 5

    Mix in roasted nuts and cardamom. Let cool slightly.

  6. 6

    Grease palms with ghee, shape mixture into a log.

  7. 7

    Roll in poppy seeds or coconut if desired.

  8. 8

    Wrap and chill for 15–20 min. Slice into 1/2-inch pieces.

Tips

Stays good for 1 week at room temperature or 2 weeks refrigerated.
