Ingredients

Preparation 1hour and cooking 10 minutes
1 batch
  • 1 kgAmla (Indian gooseberry)
  • 1.25 kgSugar
  • 1/2 teaspoonsalt
  • 1 tspCardamom (elaichi dana)
  • 1 tspCloves (lavang)
  • 0.25 tspSaffron
  • 1 tspCinnamon pieces
  • enough for boiling Water

Steps

Preparation 1hour and cooking 10 minutes
  1. 1

    Boil water in a large pot. Add amla, switch off the flame, and cover for 10 minutes.

    Grate all the amla and place in a big bowl.

    Add sugar and salt in the grated amla, mix well, and set aside for 4 hours until sugar melts.

    Heat a pan, add the amla-sugar mixture, and stir continuously.

    Add cardamom, cloves, saffron, and cinnamon pieces.

    Cook on medium flame, stirring, until the mixture thickens to a syrupy consistency.

    Cool completely and store in an airtight glass jar for up to 12 months.

  8. 8

    1 teaspoon Awala pak is eating every morning in winter season for immunity booster.

Tips

Using saffron and spices adds a sweet aroma and warmth to the dish.
