Ingredients

  1. 2 cupsMakhana (fox nuts)
  2. 1–2 tbsp Ghee or oil
  3. 1/2 tspRed chilli powder
  4. 1/2 tspChaat masala
  5. 1/4 tspAmchur (dry mango powder)
  6. 1 pinchBlack pepper powder
  7. Salt to taste

  1. 1

    Heat ghee or oil in a pan on low flame.

    Add makhana and roast on low heat, stirring continuously, until they turn crisp and crunchy.

    Switch off the flame.

    Add red chilli powder, chaat masala, amchur powder, black pepper powder and salt.

    Mix well so the spices coat the makhana evenly.

    Let it cool slightly and serve.

    Serving Suggestions:-

    1)Serve as a tea-time snack
    2)Perfect travel-friendly munching snack
    3)Can be packed in kids’ tiffin once cooled

    Tips:-

    -Roast makhana on low flame only for even crispiness
    -Add spices after switching off the flame to avoid burning
    -Store in an airtight container for 1–2 days
    -For pudina flavour, add dried mint
