Steps
- 1
Pre heat oven to 400 degrees
- 2
Mix all dry ingredients with a for until well blended
- 3
Add in the butter and shortening, using the fork to lightly cut it in until the mixture looks crumbly.
- 4
Add the milk, and slowly fold it in until the mixture sticks together to make an “almost” dough. (It’s ok if it’s not all smooth and still has a few dry parts on the bottom)
- 5
Place your dough on a lightly floured surface and pat it down into a square about 1” high.
- 6
Cut in to the desired shape and place on a baking sheet.
- 7
Bake in the oven for roughly 20 minutes or until a light golden brown.
Tips
I usually will brush a little butter on top after baking for extra flavor!
You can add all kinds of things to this dough to make it your own… cheddar and seasoning for a savory dinner biscuit… fresh diced fruit for a breakfast biscuit… the possibilities are endless!
