This a gluten free recipe, you don’t need to wait for fermentation of batter like rice idli. This is an instant recipe.
Steps

In a heavy bottom pan lightly fry cumin seeds,urad dal and polenta. Remove from heat and cool.

In a bowl mix yogurt, ginger chilli paste and salt. Mix polenta and slowly add water to make idli batter. Batter should be thick as pancake mix. Add baking soda with 1/4 tsp of water and mix well.

Grease idli plates and pour batter on it. Steam it for around 12-15 min. Check with a knife if idli is cooked in center.

Remove plates, keep aside for a few minutes to cool.

Serve with any chutney or Sambar.
