Vietnamese Dipping Fish Sauce Recipe (Nước Chấm)

Combine 6 tbsp water and 2 tbsp sugar in a bowl. Heat 1/3 of the water, then mix in to make dissolving the sugar easier, then add the rest of the water.

Add 1.5 tbsp of lemon or lime juice.

Add 2 tbsp fish sauce in small increments until you like how it tastes. It should be a little strong since it will be paired with unseasoned food.

Crush the garlic and chop the chili (if using) and mix into the sauce.
