Ada is a breakfast or evening snack usually prepared using rice powder. I have used oats together with the rice powder to prepare a different variety of ada with the distinct taste of oats.

Ada is a breakfast or evening snack usually prepared using rice powder. I have used oats together with the rice powder to prepare a different variety of ada with the distinct taste of oats.
Steps

Mix rice powder, oats and salt with water to make a thick dough similar to chappati dough.

Mix grated coconut, jeera, cardamom and jaggery

Cut banana leaves in square pieces
- 4
Take one ball of dough, flatten with both palms, place on the banana leaf and flatten with one palm to make ada

Place 2 tsp of jaggery mix and evenly spread it on the flattened ada.

Prepare all the dough as above and fold the leaves to make ada with filling inside.

Press the sides to seal so the mix of jaggery will not leak while steaming

Place the adas on the idli thattu and steam cook for 10 minutes

Bring down, transfer to serving plates.

Cut the banana leaves into shapes as shown in photo, open and serve
