Crumbed Fish

There are so many kinds of fish that God created, that it can be hard to decide which one to buy. I have noticed comparing Kuwait-India-US-NZ that fishes have different names or some fishes are specific to a particular region. SO! if you love fish, but have no idea what to buy - ask the person selling it - They will tell you which is good for a curry or a fry or to bake!
This is a twist to a regular fish fry that many non-vegetarians Indians make at home. I came up with this when I was home one day and mom was making fish curry and I was making the fish fry, I added the special ingredient, and the fish was just so crispy and delicious too :) It's always fun when you try something new in the kitchen and it turns out great!!!

Steps

  1. 1

Clean the fish well and let in sit in some sea salt and lemon juice

  2. 2

Rinse it out in about 15mins or so and add the masala powders and the ginger and garlic pastes

  3. 3

You can always use a fish masala, and if you do so, don't use the three masalas unless you want some spice add the chilli powder

  4. 4

I left this to marinate for about 30mins

  5. 5

Heat some oil in a deep frying pan

  6. 6

Dunk the marinated fish in some breadcrumbs

  7. 7

    Make sure its breaded well

  8. 8

Slowly drop it in the oil - you don't want to have the oil steaming hot because it will burn the fish than fry

  9. 9

Let it be in the oil so it browns on one side and gently turn it over

  10. 10

Once fried, place the fish on some absorbent paper and let the extra oil drain

  11. 11

Serve warm with some tartar sauce or its great with a curry and rice!

New Zealand
Welcome to my Blog The Eaterspot. My blogging journey began in March 2010. I had just relocated from the US, and living in Wellington, New Zealand was definitely a whole lot different from the US. The day after I landed here, I began a full time job, but I still had a whole lot of free time after 5pm. I was cooking a lot of new dishes from various cuisines so the blog was born to document my cooking for my friends and family to follow what we are upto as a newly married couple and to see what we were eating! Thanks for visting my spot!
