When I was in Turkey, you could get this soup anywhere – to the point where you would get sick of it! But now that I'm back in Japan, I miss it. I made several attempts until I settled on this.Adjust the ingredients, thickness, and amount of salt to taste. The way every person likes this soup is different - just like how people in Japan like their miso soup prepared in different ways! (Adding about 1 tablespoon of tomato paste after sautéing the onions is also delicious.) Also, you can omit using a blender in Step 5, and enjoy the rough texture. It's easy! Recently moved and had literally nothing on hand but basic celery, carrots, onions, and my spices. Bought a bag of lentils and had lunch/dinner for a week. So good I didn't even mind I was eating soup in 80 degree weather.. 😊 Jenny -

Cooking and eating are interwoven with my life experiences and memories. Although I do not have a collection of cookbooks in my kitchen, I do have a collection of vivid memories from childhood, from travelling, from work, and of the people I’ve met or grew up with. My memories are always combined with and connected to those of certain dishes.I love to tell stories and to cook; in fact, there is a unique connection at a very basic, universal level between the recipes and the stories; between receiving and giving, between biology and psychology. I learned or remembered the tastes of most of the dishes I create by remembering their aromas. My recipes are predominantly Middle Eastern in origin, with others from Latin America and North America, Asia and Africa. In almost all I’ve altered the ingredients somewhat from the traditional recipes to reflect the flavors that have evolved in my version of these dishes over the yearsThis Lebanese soup is a meal in itself if served with bread. It’s a great winter dish as it is very hearty and incredibly healthy. It is also very easy to make. This recipe is taken from my book "Scents of Memory: A Delicious Fusion of Stories and Healthy, Affordable Recipes from Around the World." Macaroni and Lentil Soup Macaroni and Lentil Soup
My friend gave me lentils, so I used them in a soup. There will be some liquid left when it's finished, but in the case that you let it simmer a long time and the macaroni absorbs the extra liquid, I think it would be best to continue heating it and add some water. As for the lentils, there are two types; the type that needs to be soaked in water and the other type that just needs to be rinsed, so read the instructions on the packaging. When I lived in Sweden, this is the soup my host father would make often for their weekly vegetarian dinner. Together with some bread, it makes a perfect meal for a cold winter day. I can still recall the image of my host father in the kitchen in front of the simmering pot.You don't have to reconstitute lentils in water before cooking them, but I added Step 1 in order to reduce the cooking time. For 3-4 servings. Recipe by Usagi no Cima cookpad.japan -

Delicious and easy to do. It makes a huge portion so it's excellent for big groups. On thing, depending on taste you might not want to add the entire bag of lentils if you like to have more stock on your soup. jashy.aponte.7 -
Mom’s Lentil Soup Mom’s Lentil Soup
Sometimes, simple is best, especially when it’s a cold day and you’re nostalgic for a warming winter soup just like mom used to make. My mom doesn’t like to spend a lot of time cooking, so her recipes tend to be simple, quick, and easy. This is one of them. But just because it’s simple, doesn’t mean it isn’t delicious! 😋Note: While the recipe isn’t vegetarian as written, it can easily be converted to a vegetarian recipe by using vegetable stock in place of the chicken stock.#Healthy #Winter #Vegetables #KeepRecipesAlive Chris Gan -
