Place the kunafa pastry in the freezer before using.

Break the kunafa into small pieces, then add the powdered sugar and melted ghee or butter. Mix well.

Grease a baking pan with a little ghee or butter and spread half of the kunafa mixture evenly in the pan.

Mix the yogurt with the sugar and coconut, then spread this mixture over the kunafa in the pan.

Cover the filling with the remaining kunafa mixture and gently smooth the surface.

Bake the kunafa in a 350°F (180°C) oven until golden brown.

Pour cold simple syrup over the hot kunafa, flip it out of the pan, and garnish with chopped nuts and coconut if desired. Enjoy!
