In a bowl, combine the semolina flour and ghee. Mix as shown in the picture until the semolina is fully coated.

Add the yogurt and baking powder last, since semolina has a high gluten content.

Let the mixture rest for 2 hours so the ingredients can blend together.

After pouring the batter into the baking pan, tap the pan firmly on the counter to even out the surface and prevent cracks. Decorate with peanuts if you like.

Bake at 350°F (180°C) until cooked through.

Pour the warm syrup over the hot basbousa.
