Ingredients

4-6 servings
  • 500 gmussels without their shells 
  • 10-15mussels with their shells 
  • 1/2 cupolive oil 
  • 6-8 clovesgarlic cut into slices 
  • 1little parsley, finely chopped 
  • 1little salt 
  •  a little pepper 
  • 1little savory or ground thyme 
  • 1/3 cupouzo 
  • 1/3 cupwater

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat the oil in a large deep frying pan. Sauté the garlic. 

  2. 2

    Add all the mussels, both those with the shells and the ones without and sauté as well. 

  3. 3

    When they are sautéed, add the parsley, salt, pepper, savory or thyme. 

  4. 4

    Add the water and let it boil. 

  5. 5

    When the water is absorbed, stir in the ouzo. 

  6. 6

    A few more seconds and the meze for ouzo is ready.
