Prepare the syrup by boiling the water, sugar, honey and the lemon peel in a small pot for about 5-7 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat the oil in anoter pot and brown the flour, mixing so that the flour browns evenly.

It was my idea to add 1 tsp of honey to the flour while browning it, you can omit that if you like.

Add 1/2 tsp clove powder and the cinnamon.

When the color of the flour has changed to brown, add the syrup.

Mix well using a wooden spoon until everything is fully incorporated.

Then, very carefully because the mixture is extremely hot, take a large spoon or an ice-cream scoop and form small pieces of halva the size of oblong meatballs.

Place them in a platter and sprinkle with cinnamon or nuts or both!
