Its a famous kerala snack called "parippuvada" in malayalam. Every malayali loves to have it with tea.

Wash and Soak chana dal for one hour.

Drain water and grind it into a coarse paste in a mixer and keep aside.

Finely chop onion, green chillies, ginger and curry leaves.

Mix these chopped ingredients with the chana dal paste. Add the turmeric and salt too.

Heat oil in a kadai. Make balls out if the mixture and flatten slightly and fry in moderately hot oil till golden brown.

Serve hot with tomato sauce and hot tea
