This rice is a staple in Malay breakfasts. Try pairing it with your favorite side dishes! This is generally made with Thai fragrant rice but if you don't have any, use long-stored rice if you have some. Don't cook this using new rice.My husband loves this!Since this rice has coconut milk in it, do not store it in the rice cooker. If you have leftovers, freeze them or put them in the fridge, then just heat it in the microwave before serving.Check outfor more information on pandan leaves. Recipe by ichimai cookpad.japan -

Nasi goreng or savoury rice Nasi goreng or savoury rice
Many years ago I worked with an ex royal marine who had traveled the world and we discovered that we had a common interest in food and he told me that on board ship the chef would save whatever meat or bacon or sausage was left over each day and on a friday would use it up with rice and make a what he called a nasigoren, I made this many times over the years and later discovered it was based on a nasi goreng which the chef probably came across in Indonesia, so here is my version and in tribute to scouse my old colleague from my time with the navy.Thesingingchef

Village Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng Kampung) Village Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng Kampung)
“NASI GORENG KAMPUNG” is a typical kind of fried rice from the Riau Islands. It's also commonly found in Malaysia, because the people are still the same Malay family. It has simple spices mixed with candlenut and dried shrimp paste, so the aroma is sharp and distinctive --- it can certainly be tempting. This fried rice is tasty, especially with a sprinkling of fried anchovies that are so crunchy. It's also pretty hot and spicy, because it's sprinkled with sliced chili. Here is the recipe...
