Originally from St Louis Missouri my mom would buy a cake similar to this every week from the grocery store. After moving to northern Illinois the cake was nowhere to be found. I found a recipe in an old book and have been making it ever since. It is a family favorite that I make for all special occasions.

Ingredients

  1. 1 packagesyellow cake mix
  2. 1 stickButter or Margarine
  3. 1 eachEgg, beaten
  4. 1 packagescream cheese
  5. 1 boxpowdered sugar (3 cups) reserve some for top
  6. 2 eacheggs

Cooking Instructions

    Grease 9 by 13 inch pan

    Melt 1 stick of butter

  3. 3

    Mix cake mix with melted butter and 1 beaten egg.

  4. 4

    Pat cake mixture on bottom of pan.

  5. 5

    In separate bowl, soften cream cheese, beat two eggs and combine powdered sugar for a minimum of 4 minutes.

    Poor mixture over cake in pan

    Bake at 350°F for 35 to 40 minutes top will be golden

  8. 8

    While warm, sprinkle with powdered sugar. Allow to cool before cutting.

    I added sprinkles to the topping because this was for a birthday . You can use any kind of cake that you like.
