Ingredients

  1. 3 cupold fashioned or rolled oats
  2. 1 cupoat bran
  3. 1/4 cupground flax seed
  4. 1/2 cuphoney
  5. 1/4 cupolive oil
  6. 1/4 cupbrown sugar, packed
  7. 1/4 cupwater
  8. 1/4 tspsalt
  9. 3/4 cupdried blueberries, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, or craisins
  10. 1 tsppure vanilla extract (I use extra)
  11. 1 cupblanched almonds, slivered or chopped
  12. 1 tspcinnamon (I use china or ceylon)

Steps

    Preheat oven to 300°.

  2. 2

    Combine the oats, bran, flax and almonds in a large bowl.

  3. 3

    In a small pot over medium low heat, combine the honey, oil, sugar, water,vanilla,cinnamon and salt, stir often.

  4. 4

    After about 5 minutes (when it's bubbly), pour over the oat mix.

  5. 5

    Mix well.

  6. 6

    Spread on 2 rimmed baking sheets.

  7. 7

    Bake for 30 minutes, stirring approximately every 10 minutes.

  8. 8

    In the final 10 minutes, stir in the dried fruit.

  9. 9

    Let cool and store in an airtight container.

  10. 10

    Freezes well.

Some of my favorite things are family, friends, my pets, cooking, baking, football (Badger & Packer), Brewer baseball, college basketball, car racing, thrift stores, volunteering, and rummage sales. I have a 9 year old rescue dog, and 7 birds ( 6 are rescue) and they range in age from 1 year to over 19 years old. I volunteer for a dog rescue and a shelter, as well as other festivals and organizations.
