Steps

  1. 1

Pick a dish that's special to you. Something that deserves to be shared with the world.

  2. 2

Do a quick search for your chosen dish on the app to collect inspiration from similar recipes. Think about how you can offer a different perspective and make your recipe a valuable contribution to its class. Remember, we're all working as a team here, and if we work together effectively, we can build the greatest cookbook the world has ever seen.

  3. 3

With your basic idea, head over to our recipe builder. On your mobile device, tap the little green circle. Online, find the compose icon at the top right side of the screen.

  4. 4

A title is a great place to start. Keep it short and accurate. Extraneous information (emoticons, usernames, adjectives, ingredients, etc.) will bring down your recipe in our search results.

  5. 5

When adding direction steps, try to include only one main action in each step. This will help your recipe display nicely on all of the screens and devices we support, and it will keep your readers from getting lost or confused while cooking.

  6. 6

You'll also need some ingredients. Make sure to enter amounts and units as accurately and precisely as possible. Recipes with missing amounts may be flagged as incomplete.

  7. 7

Important Note: Please don't plagiarize. We want to see what you made, hear how you did it, and maybe even ask you some questions or send a note of appreciation. Find inspiration in existing recipes, but tell the story in your own words, using your own images. There are a lot of places to find a good recipe, but this is the only place to find a Cookpad recipe.

  8. 8

Specifying a serving size and a cooking time will go a long way in helping your recipe reach more cooks. Serving size helps us to accurately calculate nutritional data for your dish. Cooking time helps the cooks who will use your recipe determine if they have the time to recreate your dish.

  9. 9

When you're done with your recipe, do a little proof reading. Make sure all of your ingredients are listed and used. Try to work through your recipe mentally or have a friend read it over to smooth out any points of confusion.

  10. 10

To really sell your dish, make sure to include an awesome pic. Photos are your digital recipe's special sauce. A great photo will give your recipe a big advantage out of the gate. 🏇 Click below for some tips and basic guidelines on food photography.

  11. 11

When you're feeling pretty familiar with the system, you'll want to check out our attachment action. This feature allows you to link a direction step to any recipe in our database. Let's say you're making spaghetti, but there's already a sauce recipe on the app that you'd like to use. No need for repetition here. Just search on the app and open the recipe you have in mind. Then, head back to the recipe builder and click the attachment button within the direction step where the sauce will be used. Select the recipe from the list that appears to link to it from the current direction step.

  12. 12

When you're ready to publish. Just tap the green button at the bottom of the recipe builder and your recipe is off to be shared with thousands of cooks all over the world. 🚀 Just think, the smells that now permeate your home as you settle in for a meal may soon be wafting from kitchen windows all accross the globe.
