My Apple Pie My Apple Pie
Now that it's getting colder, it's the season for pie. And when I think of Jonathan apples that means one thing, apple pie. I'm not very good at using normal flaky pastry and the apples get soggy, so I always bake the apples first and make the pie like this.If the pastry becomes too soft while carrying out these steps then please continue doing them while chilling the pastry in the fridge. The amount of apples you will need will change according to the size of the pie and apples. This pie isn't so sweet, so please adjust the sugar amount to make it sweeter if you wish. Apple Crumble Apple Crumble
This recipe was written up for the British Embassy's campaign, "A Taste of Britain" For more information, see the Facebook page www.facebook.com/oishii.igirisuIt's also delicious when made with European pears, cherries, plums, or rhubarb. Bramley apples are the best, but any tart red apples are good. It's standard to cover crumble in hot and thick custard but I also recommend that you try "Whisky Ice Cream",. Apple Danish Apple Danish
Danish at the store is very crispy and delicious, but it's also loaded with butter, so I came up with this recipe using only a modest amount of butter in the dough and put some filling inside. The dough will not get soggy if you remember to wipe off any moisture on the apples before you make them into a filling. Apple Jam Apple Jam
I wanted to use this for a dinner dish, so I made jam without sugar!! It's quite sweet and tart. The salt and the water are used to release the moisture from the apple, so you only need a little bit, but the amount of moisture released will depend on the size and condition of the apple, so add more water if necessary.Mashed Fuji apple jam will be slightly firm.
