Ingredients

  1. 1/2 CupRice
  2. 1/2 CupToor Dal
  3. 1Tomato (diced)
  4. 2Carrot (diced)
  5. 1Capsicum (diced)
  6. 1/2 CupChopped beans
  7. Onion 1 (finely chopped)
  8. 1 teaspoonTamarind paste
  9. to tasteSalt
  10. 2 tablespoonBisi bile baath powder
  11. 1 tablespoonGhee
  12. 1/2 teaspoonMustard seeds
  13. Curry leaves 5-6
  14. 6-8Cashew
  15. 4 cupswater

Steps

  1. 1

    In a pressure cooker put rice and toor dal, wash well.

  2. 2

    Add water, salt and veggies (except onion) and pressure cook for about 10 minutes. Allow the steam to escape.

  3. 3

    Add tamarind paste and bisi bile baath powder, mix well

  4. 4

    For Tadka, heat ghee, add mustard seeds curry leaves and cashew, allow the seeds to splutter. Add to the bisi bile baath and gently stir to mix.

  5. 5

    Serve hot with khara boondi.
