Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 1red apple, cored and cut into chunks
  2. 1green apple, cored and cut into chunks
  3. 1 cupapple juice
  4. 15whole cloves
  5. 4 dashof cinnamon
  6. 1vanilla bean, cut lengthwise
  7. 1bottle red wine
  8. 1/3 cupsimple syrup
  9. 1/2 cupcognac
  10. 1cinnamon sticks, for garnish

Steps

    In a saucepan, combine the apples, apple juice, whole cloves, cinnamon, and vanilla bean over low heat.

  2. 2

    Cook, stirring constantly, until apples just begin to carmelize.

  3. 3

    Remove from heat and set aside.

  4. 4

    Let cool.

  5. 5

    Combine the wine and cognac in a large ceramic or glass container.

  6. 6

    Using a small strainer, strain out cloves and vanilla bean from the apple spice mixture.

  7. 7

    Add the apple spice mixture to the wine mixture and stir well.

  8. 8

    Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

  9. 9

    Serve over ice and garnish with cinnamon sticks.

Some of my favorite things are family, friends, my pets, cooking, baking, football (Badger & Packer), Brewer baseball, college basketball, car racing, thrift stores, volunteering, and rummage sales. I have a 9 year old rescue dog, and 7 birds ( 6 are rescue) and they range in age from 1 year to over 19 years old. I volunteer for a dog rescue and a shelter, as well as other festivals and organizations.
