Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 1butter to grease baking dish
  2. 3/4 cupplus 3 tablespoons flour, divided
  3. 1/4 cuppacked brown sugar
  4. 1/2 tspsalt
  5. 1/2 cup(1 stick) butter, cut into small cubes
  6. 1 cupold fashioned rolled oats
  7. 1/2 cupsugar
  8. 1 cupdark chocolate chips
  9. 2 lbfrozen sweet cherries, thawed

Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. 2

    Butter a 2 quart baking dish.

  3. 3

    In a large bowl, mix together 3/4 cup flour, brown sugar, and salt.

  4. 4

    Using a pastry blender, work butter into flour mixture until it is the texture of coarse meal.

  5. 5

    Add oats and mix until large clumps form.

  6. 6

    In a large bowl, toss cherries with the chocolate chips, sugar, and remaining 3 tablespoons flour.

  7. 7

    Place mixture in the 2 quart baking dish and sprinkle with the topping.

  8. 8

    Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until golden and bubbling.

  9. 9

    Let cool 10 minutes before serving.

    *I tend to squash the cherries some to make sure there are no pits accidentally remaining inside of them.*

Some of my favorite things are family, friends, my pets, cooking, baking, football (Badger & Packer), Brewer baseball, college basketball, car racing, thrift stores, volunteering, and rummage sales. I have a 9 year old rescue dog, and 7 birds ( 6 are rescue) and they range in age from 1 year to over 19 years old. I volunteer for a dog rescue and a shelter, as well as other festivals and organizations.
