Garlic Powder

Feng-Shui
Feng-Shui @fengshui

I decided to make some garlic powder. Instead of having alot of garlic around, why not dehydrate my own and save space. :)

(the dry time was corrected - it should be at least 12 hrs to dehydrate or until done.)

Preminced Garlic in a jar seems to run about 18 hrs.
Minced garlic cloves runs about 12 hrs dehydrate time.

Steps

  1. 1

**Ill add instructions on how to powder both preminced (bought) and clove garlic as i had both. I minced them because i wanted to use my screens and they dry better. But if you have a different dehydrator setup and can dehydrate them in slices, im sure theyll dry the same :)**

  2. 2

if using Clove garlic, go to step 3. If using preminced garlic skip to step 4.

  3. 3

Clove garlic instructions: Peel outter paper from garlic cloves, and seperate the cloves. Bring water to a boil (this makes it much easier to get the inner paper off cloves) when water is boiling, remove from heat and set cloves into water for about 30 - 45 seconds. Remove them from the water and peel the inner paper off cloves. Mince the cloves to tiny pieces. Skip to step 5.

  4. 4

If using minced garlic prepackaged in a jar: You'll want to rinse this through a strainer first under running water. Put strainer in a big bowl. Empty the jar of minced garlic in the strainer, and rince it off directly into the bowl. Move to step 5.

  5. 5

Put minced garlic on fruit rollup tray in a thin layer. Set fruit rollup tray on top of main dehydrator tray (fruit rollup tray is needed because the pieces are very small). Dehydrate at 135°F / 57C for 12 hrs, or until done

  6. 6

Mill to powder using grinder or a nutribullet (using the milling blade). Load into jars for storage.
