Looking through this site for an easy pie crust because I was in the mood to try my own version of chicken pot pie I have come across many different versions of pie crust. After reading over many I have come up with my own.

Ingredients

  1. 2 1/2 cupAP flour
  2. 2 stickof margarine or butter cubed
  3. 1 1/2 tspsalt
  4. 1 tspbaking powder
  5. tablespoons of ice cold water

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Whisk, sift, or just mix well together using a fork all of your dry ingredients until well blended in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

Add cubed margarine or butter to dry ingredients and just mash it together. The dough will be sort of crumbly and not completed just yet. Keep going on for a few minutes until you you can see that all of the flour is mashed into the butter.

  3. 3

Begin adding the ice cold water 4 tablespoons at a time and still using the fork mix it all together. Keep adding the water until desire dough-like consistency is achieved. (At this point I just started using my hands mashing it all together.)

  4. 4

Separate dough into 2 or three balls and knead in hand by flattening it out and folding it half many times. Flatten into a disk and wrap in plastic wrap and place in fridge for about 30 minutes to an hour.

  5. 5

*From what I have read the dough can be made in advance days before use but I advise to not have it in the fridge no more than 3 days. I have also heard that it can be frozen for up to 3 months.

  6. 6

    Enjoy and happy cooking.
