Combine walnut and spices in large mixing bowl

Melt butter

Brush bottom of 24 X 20 pan with melted butter and place one pastry sheet down, brush with melted butter, repeating this 6 times

Brush 6 th layer with butter and sprinkle with nut mixture

Add another pastry sheet, brush with butter, sprinkle with nut mixture, repeating the process until all the ingredients are used, ending with 6 buttered layers

Brush top with butter and cut into diamond shapes

Bake for one hour at 300* until golden brown

Remove from oven, place on cooling rack and cool for 2 hours

MAKE SYRUP last 30 min of cooling

SYRUP RECIPE: 1 1/4 cups honey. 1 1/4 cups water. 1 1/4 cups sugar. 1 cinnamon stick. 2" piece of orange peel

Combine honey with sugar, cinnamon stick and orange peel in 4 qt pot on high heat

Stir occasionally until sugar is dissolved

Once boiling, boil for 10 min stirring occasionally

Remove from heat, discard orange peel and cinnamon stick

Recut pieces

Pour hot syrup evenly over top of Baklava, allowing it to run into cuts and around edges of pan

Allow to sit uncovered until completely cooled

Cover and store at room temperature for atleast 8 hours before serving

Store covered at room temperature for up to 5 faus
