Ingredients

1/2 cupfat
1 cupsugar
1egg beaten
1/2 cupsweet milk
3 1/2 cuppastry flour
3 tspbaking powder
1/2 tspsalt
FILLING
1/2 cupsugar
1 tbspflour
1/2 cupwater
1 cupchopped dried fruit (raisins, dates or figs)
1/8 tsplemon extract or 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps

Chill dough, then roll out soft dough.

Roll out 1/8" thick on floured board and cut with 2" cutter and put teaspoon of filling on top and press edges together.

Bake in hot oven.

For Filling: Stir filling over direct flame until well blended and thick.

Cool before spreading between cookies.
