Slice the onion into thin wedges and cut the beef into long strips.

Season the beef and onion with all the spices, yogurt, and salt to taste. Mix well.

For best flavor, marinate in the morning and cook for dinner, but you can also cook it right away if needed.

Sauté the shawarma mixture in a pot over the stove. Once the beef is cooked through, transfer it to a baking dish and bake in the oven until it dries out a bit.

Serve with tahini sauce and a salad of parsley, tomatoes, onions, and sumac.
