Ingredients

  • 3 1/3 poundsbeef tenderloin, trimmed of fat (about 1.5 kg)
  • 1/2 cupplain yogurt (120 ml)
  • 1/4 cupvegetable oil (60 ml)
  • 1 tablespoonshawarma spice mix
  • 1 teaspoonblack pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoonground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoonswhite vinegar (30 ml)
  • 1onion
  • Salt, to taste

Steps

    Slice the onion into thin wedges and cut the beef into long strips.

  2. 2

    Season the beef and onion with all the spices, yogurt, and salt to taste. Mix well.

  3. 3

    For best flavor, marinate in the morning and cook for dinner, but you can also cook it right away if needed.

  4. 4

    Sauté the shawarma mixture in a pot over the stove. Once the beef is cooked through, transfer it to a baking dish and bake in the oven until it dries out a bit.

  5. 5

    Serve with tahini sauce and a salad of parsley, tomatoes, onions, and sumac.
