beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy

blend in egg and almond extract

add combined flour and salt mix well.

stir in 1/2 cup of cherries

spread dough into ungreased pan

sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup cherries and candies, press in lightly

bake @ 300 for 30-35 minutes or until edges are very light browned.

cool

combine confectioners sugar and water, mix until smooth

drizzle over cookies

cut into bars
