Ingredients

  • 8.8 ozmozzarella cheese (250 grams)
  • 8.8 ozAkkawi cheese (250 grams)
  • 1 packagekunafa pastry
  • 1/2 cupghee (about 120 ml)
  • 1/2 cupunsalted butter (about 120 ml)
  • 1 cupsimple syrup (about 240 ml)

Steps

  1. 1

    Chop the kunafa pastry and spread the ghee in a baking pan.

    Soak the Akkawi cheese in water, changing the water several times to remove excess salt.

    Spread a layer of kunafa pastry in the pan, then add the cheeses.

  4. 4

    Bake on the stovetop over low heat, pressing and spreading the mixture constantly without stopping.

    Flip onto another pan and pour the cold simple syrup over the top.
