Heat oil in a pan until hot, then add the sliced onions and sauté until fragrant.

When the onions become translucent, add the mushroom stems and sauté until cooked. Season with salt and pepper, then set aside.

Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread.

Heat a pan until hot. Place the bread slices butter-side down, sprinkle cheese evenly, add the sautéed mushrooms, top with more cheese, and cover with another slice of bread. (Use low heat here to prevent the butter from burning and ensure the cheese melts properly.)

Grill until both sides of the bread are golden brown over low heat. Once the desired color is achieved, remove from the pan, cut in half, and serve.
