Preheat oven to 425

Mix dry ingredients.

Cut in butter until mixture looks like dry coarse crumbs.

Stir in chocolate chips and buttermilk.

Knead 6-8 times on a floured board. Pat into 8-inch circle. Cut into 12 wedges

Bake on greased cookie sheet for 12-15 minutes at 425.

If desired, replace chocolate chips with cinnamon chips. Additionally, cover the scones with egg white and sugar, if desired.
