Combine flour cinnamon ginger baking powder salt cloves and nutmeg. Beat butter and brown sugar in large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in molasses and egg. gradually add flour mixture. Beat until well blended. Shape dough into 3 discs wrap in plastic. Refrigerate 1 hr or until firm.

Preheat oven to 350°F working with one disc at a time place on lightly floured surface. Roll out dough with lightly floured rolling pin to 3/16 in thickness. Cut dough into gingerbread people with floured 5 in cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Press dough trimmings together gently. Reroll and cut out more cookies.

Bake about 12 min or until edges are golden brown. Let cookies stand on cookie sheets 1 min. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
