Ingredients

  • Big mixing bowl
  • 1/2 cupSoftened butter
  • 1/2 cupVegetable shortening(not margarine)
  • 1 1/2 cupSugar
  • 1/2 cupMolasses
  • 2Eggs(lightly beaten)
  • medium mixing bowl
  • 4 cupAll-purpose flower
  • 1/2 tspSalt
  • 2 1/4 tspBaking soda
  • 2 1/4 tspGround ginger
  • 1 tspGround cloves
  • 1 1/2 tspGround cinnamon
  • 1as needed Additional sugar

Steps

  1. 1

    Set oven to preheat at 350°

  2. 2

    In the large mixing bowl, cream together butter, shortening, and sugar until lightly colored and fluffy

  3. 3

    beat in molasses and eggs; set aside.

  4. 4

    in medium bowl combine flour(sifting nit needed), salt, baking soda, ginger, clothes, and cinnamon. Blend thoroughly with wire whisk

  5. 5

    Gradually mix flour mixture into creamed ingredients until dough is blended and smooth.

  6. 6

    Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls dip top in sugar; place 2 1/2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets.

  7. 7

    bake for 11 minutes
