Ingredients

  1. Meat Sauce
  2. 4 lbground beef
  3. 4 tbspground basil
  4. 4 clovegarlic minced
  5. 6 tspsalt
  6. 4 lbcsns crushed tomatoes
  7. 48 oztomato paste
  8. 20 ozlasagna noodles
  9. Cheese Filling
  10. 6eggs
  11. 9 cupricotta cheese
  12. 1 1/2 cupgrated parmesan cheese
  13. 4 lbmozzarella cheese sliced thin
  14. 6 tbspparsley flakes
  15. 3 tspsalt
  16. 1 1/2 tsppepper

Steps

  1. 1

    Brown meat slowly; drain off excess fat.

  2. 2

    Add next 5 ingredients. Simmer uncovered 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Cook noodles in large amount of boiling salted water till tender; drain; rinse.

  4. 4

    Beat eggs: add remaining ingredients except mozzarella.

  5. 5

    Layer half the noodles in each tray - 13X9X2 inch baking dish; spread with half of the ricotta filling; add half the mozzarella cheese and half the meat sauce. Repeat.

  6. 6

    Bake at 375° about 30 minutes (ore assemble early and refrigerate: bake 45 minutes).

  7. 7

    Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Each tray serves 8 to 10 people. Cut recipe in half if making only one tray.
